Press-Release: HOYA's iSert receives FDA approval and with this introduces the first and only preloaded IOL Injector in the U.S. - 20 November 2009
Following the successful AF-1 IOL family of the company HOYA Surgical Optics now also the iSert Preloaded IOL Injector received the approval for sale from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). During this year's AAO the highly successful and innovative implantation system which is on the Japanese and European market since 2007 was officially presented to the U.S. market. The disposable iSert enables a reliable and safe implantation of the preloaded IOL. A reproductible handling during the implantation process ensures maximum success. This has now also been certified by the FDA so that a great success of iSert in the U.S. can be expected. Press-Release: For the ESCRS Congress 2009: HOYA Surgical Optics – Yellow aspheric iSymm™ of the iSertTM Preloaded IOL Platform now with „Sharpest Edge“ - 9 September 2010
HOYA Surgical Optics is presenting its new „Sharpest Edge“ on this year’s ESCRS. As from now all yellow aspheric blue-light filter IOLs iSymm TM are available with this Sharpest Edge. The iSymm™ is one of the portfolio of the innovative iSert™ Preloaded IOL Platform and gains with the new Sharpest Edge an important feature for the prevention of PCO. The company HOYA, known for its fast adaption to the market needs, has been optimizing its edge design over the last months. The yellow iSymm™ went through a unique proprietary manufacturing process. The result is that the edge design of the yellow iSymm™ from HOYA is now the sharpest of all currently commercially available IOLs. Prof. Werner and Prof. Tetz have been observing this development and documented it in their newest publication named “Edge profiles of currently available intraocular lenses and recent improvements” which will be published in the European Ophthalmic Review soon. (Vol. 3 Issue 2) More details about the new Sharpest Edge will be given on the HOYA booth H3. Further lectures from Prof. Tetz and Prof. Werner during the HOYA Symposia will be underlining this topic and will be presenting the newest results. Another positive announcement from the company is that HOYA received the FDA Approval for the iSert™ preloaded implantation system in the USA. This big step allows HOYA Surgical Optics now to introduce the first and only preloaded intraocular lens injection system in the US.
